Call and make sure they are still accepting, as needs change daily. Donate something you would wear or utilize yourself (Yes, I have to state this, as some people are donating garbage, if you can believe that!) A lot of places are good on clothes, however, so check in with each location. What most need right now on 1/13/2025 is:
- Toiletries: Everyday basics like toothpaste, soap, deodorant, and feminine hygiene products are in constant demand.
- Pet Supplies: Many families rely on food banks not just for themselves, but for their pets, too.
- Baby Supplies: Diapers, baby wipes, and formula are crucial and always needed.
- First Aid Kits: Bandages, antiseptic, and other basic medical supplies can be lifesaving.
- Clean Water & Non-Perishable Food: Staples that sustain people during times of crisis.
- Firefighters need eyedrops and sunscreen. Their eyes are strained and irritated, and they’re constantly battling sun exposure. It’s such a simple way to support these heroes, yet it’s something most of us wouldn’t think to donate.
Sometimes, the smallest, most thoughtful contributions can have the greatest impact.

Actionable Tips for Fire Safety & Evacuation Preparedness
For a full checklist, visit CalFire’s Guide https://www.fire.ca.gov/prepare
If you or someone you know is evacuating because of the wildfires, and there is time (do this now, don’t wait) video record every room in your house with your phone. Open every drawer and cabinet, the fridge, closets-pan every room, film everything. Insurance companies will make you prove what you had, no matter what policy you have. Without that video evidence or receipts they will likely not honor your claim.
